To what extent was the feminist emphasis on the women’s group as a means of consciousness raising influenced by humanistic psychology and the encounter group?
The humanistic approach is working with the whole person, and the encounter group approach aims to help the individual grow in a positive way by resisting social restrictions and by interacting with others honestly and openly. The feminist approach focuses mainly on helping women in areas such as assertiveness, communication, self-esteem, and relationships (and so tying together the humanistic with the encounter group). In a nutshell.
There's a lot more I could put but tbh I'm a bit tired and it's Christmas!

The women's group focus is similar to that of the Humanistic movement in that it takes a holistic approach and the therapist believes that her client is the only “expert” in her own issues and will help her develop the tools needed to reach her potential as a unique and valuable individual.
